Yes — we do foam injection in 110°+ summer temperatures, and there are actually a few reasons why summer is one of the better seasons to do this work. Here is what to know.

Polyurethane foam handles Phoenix heat

The dimensional stability range of high-density polyurethane foam runs from -40°F to about 250°F+ — far outside any temperature you will see at the surface of an Arizona slab. The 158°F surface temperature on a black driveway in July is nothing for the foam.

Why summer can actually be a good time for the work

  • Soil is consolidated. Phoenix summer soil is at its driest and most compact. Voids that get filled now will be filled with the slab sitting at its driest position — which means the foam takes up the maximum void space.
  • Cure happens fast. Foam reaches 90% strength in about 15 minutes regardless of temperature. Heat does not slow it down (or speed it up much). Same-day walk-on either way.
  • Schedule availability. Some homeowners avoid summer work, so our scheduling is sometimes more flexible. We can often be on site sooner.
  • Pool deck work is timely. Pool decks are heavily used in summer — a pool deck pulling away from the coping is more visible (and more annoying) when the pool is in active use. Most pool deck lifts can be done with the pool still full and used the same day.

What the heat does affect

For our crew, mostly. We hydrate, we time start times early in the morning, and we stay efficient. The work itself is unaffected. Our equipment is rated and operates fine in the summer.

For our customers — surface temperature can affect how long it takes a pavement coating to cure after we patch the holes. We use coatings rated for hot-weather application and time the patch finish carefully. Walk-on is still 15–30 minutes; full surface cure depends on the coating product.

What to avoid scheduling in summer

  • Work during the middle of an active monsoon — heavy rain interferes with the soil mapping and injection accuracy. We schedule around storm fronts.
  • Work that requires resealing or staining concrete in extreme afternoon heat. Morning starts and heat-rated products handle this.

The bottom line

Phoenix summer is a perfectly fine — sometimes preferable — time to do foam injection on driveways, pool decks, sidewalks, and foundations. We work year-round across the Valley. The right schedule depends more on your situation than on the weather.
